Spokane County’s Marijuana Sales Spike 162 Percent

WA Marijuana Sales

Spokane County reports an increase in marijuana sales of 162 percent in 2016. In 2016, Spokane County was responsible for $57.6 million in retail marijuana sales. The state’s total sales for 2016 were $937 million.

Spokane County generated $21.3 million in tax revenue, according to Spokane Journal of Business. Statewide sales were at $502 million as of June 30, 2016, and the state had collected $186 million in tax revenue at that date. Overall, the state has seen a 274 percent marijuana sales increase from 2015 through the end of 2016.

The 2017 fiscal year is nearly half over, and the state’s sales are quickly approaching the 2016 total having recorded $884-million in sales. This has also generated $165 million in taxes.

Sativa Sisters is a high-ranking sales machine, with $6.9 million in marijuana sales in 2016.

Sativa Sisters GM Eric Skaar said, “I think what you get here is great value. Our products aren’t overly pricy, but they’re not too cheap either. Our staff is also very educated on the industry, keeping up with the latest research and science aspects.”

Marijuana shop owners say that having an educated staff is what brings people through their doors. Well, educated staff and great products, of course.

Senate Bill 5052 made it possible to double the number of retail marijuana stores permitted in Spokane as demand for marijuana rose. The increased accessibility is helping drive strong sales numbers.
