Study Confirms Marijuana Legalization Increases Tourism in Washington

A recently published study in the Journal of Regional Analysis & Policy shows that those visiting Washington or Colorado are coming for marijuana-related services and amenities. Tourism has increased following legalization. This also boosts the state’s recreational marijuana sales.

The fact that marijuana is legal in Washington has also increased transplants moving from other states, Benzinga reported.  More hotel rooms are being booked in Washington State. The increase in tourism has also allowed new businesses related to the marijuana industry to open, thus creating more jobs.

Travel hotspots across the state are even hotter hotspots since adult use marijuana became legal.
